Why is Peer Support so important?
Knowing someone who has survived and even thrived, regardless of a limb deficiency, gives a new amputee or family member hope that life is still full of opportunity.
"The inspiration from such an example is worth much more than from those who have never been tried by the fire themselves." - Amputee Coalition of America. |
In association with ACA National Peer Network.
Many of our support group members have acquired the specialized training and certification in Peer Visitation offered by the Amputee Coalition of America.
According to the ACA, "Trained peers help brand new amputees jumpstart their transition to a new life by sharing information, by serving as a model of success, and by offering much needed understanding and support." Find out how to request Peer Visitation. |
